When I make a list of what I want from a holiday, I would say….. warm weather, beautiful beaches, swimming pools, wonderful people and world class shopping. If your list looks something like this then I have just the place!

Welcome to Hawaii, or Aloha as the locals would say. This place really is paradise on earth!
What I really love about Hawaii is there’s something for everyone. If like me, you like to relax, surf, swim, eat and shop then the island of Oahu is your one stop shop, from the beaches of Waikiki to the stunning North Shore and beyond.
And although it won’t be covered in this post you shouldn’t look past the spectacular Maui, breathtaking Kauai or even the home of volcanos The Big Island.

So you’ve picked your holiday location, now where to stay. While visiting Oahu I always stay at Waikiki and explore the island from there. I’ve put a lot of thought and research into where to stay from the location, to being family friendly and restaurants. And I always come back to one place, The Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.
I love that the pool is located right next to the beach so you can easily move from pool to ocean, an asset that’s not only wonderful for children but adults alike.

Also located right next to the beach is the world famous Dukes restaurant and bar, a perfect location for breakfast, lunch, dinner or tropical cocktails, with the ever tasty Hula Grill just upstairs.
But lets not forget the views of the hotel, being located RIGHT on Waikiki the views from most rooms and the restaurants are those that dreams are made of.

The rooms are styled in a relaxed island feel leaving you truly immersed in paradise.
And with friendly staff (many of whom have been there for years) no one could blame you for never wanting to leave!!!

Lets get one thing clear, these photos have not been filtered. Yes that is actually how blue the ocean is!! Stunning isn’t it!!

This is where your personality comes into the holiday…….
We were not after an action packed holiday filled with tours and day trips, but there is a bounty of fun and exciting activities to do. From a visit to Pearl Harbour, day trip to the North Shore, helicopter flights, Luaus and island hopping. The fun is as far as your imagination will take you.

So what did we do??
We swam and surfed!!! If you need any help in the surf department, whether its lessons, board hire or even an outrigger ride head to the team at Faith surf school located on the beach right outside the Outrigger Waikiki on the beach.

Dont miss out on the Diamond Head climb. A 300,ooo year old volcanic cone that although the climb isn’t long in distance, consists of a steep uneven track and the gruelling 99 steps at the very top. But once the climb is complete the view is truly breathtaking.

Another great activity is heading out on a boat trip. There is a massive array to choose from, from sunset trips, Diamond Head tours and the one we chose….. snorkelling with the turtles.
The turtle sanctuary is located only a few hundred meters off Waikiki, so a short but fun trip which leaves plenty of time for snorkelling with the turtles. I lost count with the amount of turtles that we had the joy of swimming with, not to mention the fish, octopus and pleather of ocean life we encountered. Our almost 4 year old absolutely loved it!!!!! And I mean LOVED it!!!!! But please me mindful that the child should be a good swimmer.

And I shopped. The shopping was wonderful! But I have to be honest, with an ocean, pool and walking sites like the ones available in Hawaii I really tried to power shop as the thought of being inside a shopping centre didn’t interest me to much. I saved the majority of my bargain hunting for once the sun had gone down with the Waikiki shops being open till 10pm and Ala Moana till 9pm. If you are interested in the best shopping, head straight to Ala Moana about a 30min walk from Waikiki or $10 cab ride.

I have no doubt there I will post more adventures in the future about Hawaii but these are just a few reasons why I travel to there and will again, the options of things to do is limitless.

But there is so much more on offer than what Ive shared, so for more info head to GoHawaii
